Invisalign straightens teeth using precise computer-generated movements. A series of clear aligners are manufactured to fit snugly over the patient’s teeth. Over time, these aligners will gradually correct the position of the teeth. The patient inserts a new set of aligners every two weeks until they reach the desired result.
When Dr. Coleman has determined a patient’s candidacy to receive Invisalign, he will perform an examination and take a full set of x-rays. During this comprehensive exam, Dr. Coleman will analyze the patient’s overall dental health, the current position of their teeth, and the shape of the roots of their teeth. All of this information is considered when achieving a beautiful, straight smile.
Next, a mold of your mouth will be taken and scanned into the computer. The laboratory will use this information to create your individualized set of aligners. When the aligners are ready, the patient can begin wearing them. Snap them in place over the teeth. At first, the patient will notice their tightness. The aligners have been designed to start gently repositioning the teeth. After a few days, the patient will notice a more comfortable fit. After two weeks, it will be time for a new set. Again, the new set will feel snug as it continues to reposition the teeth ever so slightly. The patient will repeat the process every two weeks until the teeth are straightened.
