Houston Affordable Dental Implants
Dental implants are the best solution to replace missing teeth. But in some cases, the expense simply will not work for your budget. You may automatically think removable dentures are your only option, but Dr. Coleman offers affordable implant overdentures options that enable you to reap the benefits of implants at nearly half the cost.
Are Mini Implants Right for Me?
Mini implants can cost about half as much as standard dental implants. This is in large part due to their smaller diameter. They are about one-third the diameter of standard dental implants. Therefore, the surgery and placement is much simper and the healing time is much faster which cuts the final cost.
Mini implants do have some drawbacks. Due to the smaller diameter, your denture will not feel as solid as it would being anchored by standard implants. But it will not slip, and they will prevent the shrinkage of your jawbone that occurs with removable dentures. Other Options to Make Dental Implants More Affordable
Ideally, we would like to support a denture with four or six dental implants. However, it can be secured quite adequately with just two, which can greatly save on costs. Using just two implants will mean that the denture will be able to rotate some on the implants, but it will not slip or come loose, and facial collapse will be prevented.
To prevent torquing forces on the implants when we are using just two, a snap attachment is used, as you see pictured here. This arrangement is called a snap-on denture.
Beware of too good to be true Dental Implants
Dental implants is a poorly regulated area of dentistry. While it is a very demanding discipline, it is not yet a legally recognized specialty, meaning that any dentist can place them without any extra training. It is also the area of dentistry that sees the highest number of malpractice cases. There are so many things that can go wrong: infection, nerve damage, or implants that come loose after only a couple of years. Some dentists, in order to attract more patients with low fees, will cut corners on technique or use substandard parts. So we strongly caution against price-shopping for dental implants. Make sure that your dentist has adequate credentials for performing this service and that fees aren’t suspiciously low.
Dr. Coleman will not cut corners with any of his treatment. But he is sensitive to the budget limitations of people. So if you have concerns over the cost of dental implants, share those and he will work with you.
If you wonder if you are a candidate for dental implants or would like a rough estimate of what they would cost for you, please give us a call and we will arrange a complimentary consultation where you can have a few minutes with Dr. Coleman.
