Houston Smile Design
A beautiful smile is one of the very first things that someone notices about you. It not only makes a lasting first impression, but it can also be a powerful social, professional, and personal asset. If you are self conscious about your smile in any way, others pick up on it. Whether this occurs consciously or subconsciously, it can have a negative impact on the way you are portrayed to others. Dr. Coleman can help you achieve the smile of your dreams! He feels that everyone deserves to feel the self confidence that exudes from a beautiful smile.
A smile makeover is not a one-size fits all process; it is meticulously developed with intentional thought and created to compliment your unique facial features and personality traits. Dr. Coleman likes to think of your smile as a canvas where he can create a beautiful masterpiece. With over 30 years of cosmetic dentistry training and experience, he can give you any smile that you want. That said, Dr. Coleman will be sure that it fits your face, personality, and style.
Smile Styles
There are four main smile styles that Dr. Coleman uses as a platform. There can always be variations incorporated from more than one style. A patient that came in for a smile makeover was gracious enough to let Dr. Coleman demonstrate each style, as shown in the photographs below.

Natural Smile Style
Natural Smile Style
This look is a simple, a “Plain Jane,” kind of feeling. The smile fits her face well. You will notice that the lateral incisors are shorter than the central incisors and have more of a rounded look. The cuspids or canine teeth are not as pointed. This look suits her age, face shape, and gender.

Sporty Smile Style
Sporty Smile Style
This sporty smile style, instead of the softer look, is a bit stronger and harder. The teeth are flatter in shape and more uniform. The area between the edges of the teeth has been closed in for a little more aggressive feeling. This look fits her personality.

Executive Smile Style
Executive Smile Style
This look is the most extreme of Dr. Coleman’s smile styles. It tends to portray a more masculine, bold look. The teeth are designed to be longer and the spaces are closed, even more than the sporty style. The cuspids are intentionally created to be more prominent and the shape of the teeth is fatter to give the overall smile more dominance.

Glamorous Smile Style
Glamorous Smile Style
The glamorous smile style is a hybrid of all the others. It is softer than the executive look and the spaces created between the teeth open the smile up. Most people tend to gravitate toward this look when they think of a beautiful smile. The teeth are wonderfully proportioned and the curvy shape feels the most feminine. The biggest distinction of the glamorous style compared to the executive smile is that it is more reserved.
Color Variations
The exact shade and color of your smile is limitless because Dr. Coleman uses his own ceramist at his on-site laboratory. If you desire, you can create your own color to get the exact variation you are after.
What to Expect
In the initial smile design consultation, Dr. Coleman will ask you a series of questions about the exact look and personality you want your new smile to portray. For homework, he requests that you select photos of people with smiles that appeal to you. Look through magazines or online to find three smiles you love and three you don’t like. Don’t over think this. He is looking for a gut level reaction of what you like or don’t like. Everything you don’t like can be eliminated in your personalized design and he will incorporate those elements that you find attractive. Dr. Coleman uses computer simulations and wax-up models as needed to help give you a fuller picture of how your new smile will blend in with your facial structure.
